So, each of us basically needs to understand that photography is not all about taking photograph, but taking the soul of the moment itself. Only then it will make a good photograph. A good photographer is the one who never stops practicing, never stops trying, and most importantly, never stops photographing.
Here are some quotes to live by as a photographer. Read it, understand it, and live it.
1. “Owning a DSLR does not make you a photographer. It makes you a DSLR owner” - Anonymous
2. "Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times…I just shoot at what interests me at that moment." – Elliott Erwitt
Imagine you are walking on the road at night and suddenly a beautiful comet passed by across the sky. Would you be taking the picture of the comet right away with your camera in hand or would you be, "Argh what a beautiful comet! Camera? Where's my camera? At home! Argggh!"
3. "Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow." – Imogen Cunningham
Which means, you will never stop photographing. :)
4. “ I always thought good photos were like good jokes. If you have to explain it, it just isn’t that good." – Anonymous
Enough said.
5. "The important thing is not the camera but the eye." - Alfred EisenstaedtIt's not the camera, but how the eye views the moment and use the camera to capture the moment. A camera, is simply just a medium to communicate with people on what you see with your eyes.
6. "Photography is the art of observation. It is about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. I have found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." - Elliot ErwittWe'll quote this again:
"....finding
something interesting in an
ordinary place."
7. “A lot of photographers think that if they buy a better camera they’ll be able to take better photographs. A better camera won’t do a thing for you if you don’t have anything in your head or in your heart.” - Arnold Newman8.“If it makes you laugh,
if it makes you cry,
if it rips out your heart,
that’s a good picture.”
– Eddie Adams
