Dear Photograph

Have you ever felt that sweet feeling everytime you look at your old photos from your childhood? Or just some pictures that brings you a lot of memories because it happened so long time ago? I bet everyone would feel that. Memories are good, aren't they? :)

Time shifts, places change, people change. But sometimes they don't. Sometimes only time changes, but the later two don't. And sometimes time and people change; places don't.

It's good to see how everything has changed, yet still the same.

You can view more pictures at Dear Photograph or even submit one if you have! ;)

Photography Quotes

So, each of us basically needs to understand that photography is not all about taking photograph, but taking the soul of the moment itself. Only then it will make a good photograph. A good photographer is the one who never stops practicing, never stops trying, and most importantly, never stops photographing.

Here are some quotes to live by as a photographer. Read it, understand it, and live it.

1. “Owning a DSLR does not make you a photographer. It makes you a DSLR owner” - Anonymous

2. "Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times…I just shoot at what interests me at that moment."
Elliott ErwittImagine you are walking on the road at night and suddenly a beautiful comet passed by across the sky. Would you be taking the picture of the comet right away with your camera in hand or would you be, "Argh what a beautiful comet! Camera? Where's my camera? At home! Argggh!"

3. "
Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow." Imogen Cunningham

Which means, you will never stop photographing. :)

4. “ I always thought good photos were like good jokes. If you have to explain it, it just isn’t that good." Anonymous

Enough said.

5. "The important thing is not the camera but the eye." - Alfred Eisenstaedt

It's not the camera, but how the eye views the moment and use the camera to capture the moment. A camera, is simply just a medium to communicate with people on what you see with your eyes.

6. "Photography is the art of observation. It is about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. I have found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." - Elliot Erwitt

We'll quote this again:
"....finding something interesting in an ordinary place."

7. “A lot of photographers think that if they buy a better camera they’ll be able to take better photographs. A better camera won’t do a thing for you if you don’t have anything in your head or in your heart.” - Arnold Newman

8.

“If it makes you laugh,
if it makes you cry,
if it rips out your heart,
that’s a good picture.”
Eddie Adams

don't try this at home.

... but you can try it at Uniten. just kidding!

It is normal for people to use image editing tools software such as Adobe Photoshop to manipulate images; creating out-of-your-mind pictures such as... being chased by a crocodile in the middle of a swamp, or flying through the sky like Superman, while actually the pictures are Photoshop-ed; by cutting and pasting a picture onto the other. Right? Riiight?

Introducing LI WEI, a photographer from China who doesn't need any software to create mind-blowing pictures. His concept is: to defy the gravity.

Li Wei uses cables, wires, some acrobatic techniques and good positioned cameras to help him achieving the desired work.

Hmm, any challengers? :P

More of his work here.

Photos like over 100 to 150 years old

Wanna take your brand new, crystal clear, RM1000++ digital camera photo and make it look 100-150 years old?

Just pick a picture of your favourite, upload it in the website and convert it in just a second - if you have a good connection, though - and then, Tadaa! Greet your new old picture!

It's just a click away to transport your picture back towards your great-great-great-great-and greaaat grandparents' years back. How cool is that, huh?

This is an example of how this awesome program works.
